Nancy Pelosi hospitalized after she ‘sustained an injury’ from fall on official trip to Luxembourg

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) — Nancy Pelosi, who once served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, has reportedly “sustained an injury” while attending an official engagement in Luxembourg, according to a spokesperson for the House of Representatives.

In order to commemorate the eightieth anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, which took place during World War II, Pelosi, who is 84 years old, traveled to Europe with a diverse congressional delegation. According to a statement sent by her spokesperson, Ian Krager, she is “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.” As a result, she is unable to attend the remaining events that are scheduled to take place during her trip.

He did not provide any additional information or characterize the type of her injury; however, a person who is aware with the situation stated that Pelosi tripped and fell as she was attending an event with the other members of Congress. According to a different individual who is aware with the case, she suffered a hip injury. Due to the fact that they were not authorized to speak about the fall in public, the individuals asked to remain anonymous when discussing it.

According to Krager, Pelosi “looks forward to returning home to the United States of America quickly.”

Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas, was one of the lawmakers who went on the trip. Following the trip, McCaul stated on social media that he was “praying for a speedy recovery” for Pelosi. In a group photograph taken on Friday at the United States Embassy in Luxembourg, the two legislators were seen holding hands with one another.

“I am disappointed that Speaker Emerita Pelosi will not be able to join the rest of our delegation’s events this weekend given how much she looked forward to honoring our veterans,” McCaul wrote on X. “I know how much she looked forward to honoring our veterans.” However, she is resilient, and I have no doubt that she will be able to get back on her feet in no time at all.

Two years after her husband Paul was attacked with a hammer at their house in San Francisco, the former leader has now reached the point where she has fallen from power. The individual, who was found guilty and sentenced to thirty years in federal prison in October, broke into their house in an attempt to locate Pelosi.

Pelosi, who was elected for the first time in 1987 and served as speaker twice, resigned from her position of leadership two years ago. However, she continued to stay in Congress and was re-elected to represent her San Francisco district in November.
In the two years that have passed after she resigned from her position as boss, she has continued to be active by working with Democrats both in private and in public settings and by attending formal events. During the summer of 2017, she played a significant role in the effort that her party made behind the scenes to get President Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential ticket.

Additionally, she was there on the Senate floor on Monday to witness the swearing in of her former Democratic colleagues in the House of Representatives, Adam Schiff of California and Andy Kim of New Jersey. She had attended the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, which took place over the weekend.

In the early part of this week, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who is 82 years old, suffered a sprain to his wrist and a cut to his cheek after tripping and falling in the Senate. The office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated that McConnell did not participate in Senate votes on Thursday because he was suffering some stiffness in his leg following the fall. McConnell is stepping down from his leadership position later this year.
